What factors make a country more pro-copyright?

The implementation of the European Union’s 2019 Digital Single Market Directive, which is the new legislative act adopted by the European Union to adapt copyright to the evolving digital environment, remains in varying states of implementation among its 27 member nations.

In this discussion, Ted Shapiro – partner and head of the Brussels office of Wiggin, a law firm that specializes in media, technology and intellectual property – talks to PitchMark legal advisor Frank Rittman about recent developments for the process that pertain to copyright law.

This session was first streamed for the 2021 World Congress of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. Known as AIPPI, it is the world’s leading non-profit association dedicated to the development and improvement of laws for IP protection, and PitchMark was the Platinum Sponsor for this year's World Congress.
