Freelance writers: License your articles to publications & get paid faster
Event date 28 September 2026 16:30 – 18:30
Location 138 Robinson Road #21-02 Oxley Tower Lobby 1 Singapore 068906
Learn and practise how to have conversations with editors so they don't take your ideas, and pay you when you submit your article.
As a freelance writer, you research a newsy topic, conduct interviews and craft your article. Then you send your completed piece to the editor or publisher for copy-tasting, hoping they like your article enough to publish it.
The problem is when the editor declines your story, but then asks one of their staff reporters to rewrite it. Worst of all, the editor accepts your story but despite your hard work you don't get paid for it, or it takes months to get paid.
We will walk through:
- How to create a PitchMark® certificate
- How to have a conversation with the editor about Intellectual Property
- How to get paid straight away
By the end of this workshop you will be able to:
- Generate a PitchMark® certificate
- Speak with editors about your IP rights confidently, knowing exactly what to say
- Draft emails to editors and publishers asserting your IP rights confidently
- Begin receiving payment for your article before publication
